It was a morning for running around. After sending Eldest Child off and dropping Youngest Child at school, I headed down our local major interstate to buy BDU's.
Then the name-brand of BDU's I was looking for became a bit of an issue because the owner was real picky that they don't make BDU's, they make CARGO's that can be used as BDU's. Years ago I didn't know how to pronounce the word "Thule", a company that makes roof-top cargo and bike carriers. I spoke the "th" as in "the". Did that for years. Then the family went to the LL Bean store in Maine and had to ask an employee about a Thule product. The employee very subly worked brand-name into the conversation several times, pronouncing it correctly: "Toolie". That's the best way to correct a customer. Not this guy, nope, I had to be rudely told that they don't make them as BDU's, never mind that everyone uses them as such.
Anyhoo. While I still fit perfectly fine in my old BDU's, the sizing is now different so the same pair of pants is 2 sizes different. I also tried on some men's pants hoping for a better fit for my high waist. The men's were certainly better in the waist but cut funny in the thighs, so they were ruled out.
They hemmed them right up for me - a courtesy that all uniform shops do if you buy 1 pair.
Then I headed to King's grocery store a little farther north where I picked up 800 brown bags for the annual Cub Scout food drive for our local pantry. I have stapled papers to 800 bags already and will get started on the next set tomorrow.
Lastly I went to Target. YC needed a new polo shirt for school photos on Fri. I am having a really hard time with the idea of the boys being on different schedules. Now their picture days are on different days, we have 2 Back-To-School nights, etc. After a few years of things being the same, I don't like this. They won't be back on the same schedule until YC is a high school freshman and EC is a senior.
I also had to pick up a zip-up hoodie for EC. Like me, the zip-up hoodie is his favorite piece of clothing. Per his request, I bought him one from the first aid squad and it has been lost. As far as I know he never even wore it but we can't find it anywhere.
Those projects done, I'm now setting up for the first Cub Scout den meeting of the fall for YC. We are meeting at the house but in the backyard. I have some game time lined up, some quick activities and a project that makes planetariums out of tin cans which they will shine on the inside of our carport. It should be great.
Remember that post a few days ago about how I can get hurt doing the most stupid things? Well, while hot gluing the stencils for the constellations, I hot-glued my finger. Second degree burn. That's me.
I am trying to adjust to having EC in my junior high youth group. I no longer get alone time on the ride to and from group. I didn't realize how much I need that down time on the ride home until this past Sunday night.
