Loved Like That

She doesn't remember what she had for breakfast.  She doesn't remember to take her pills, and when she does remember, she deliberately doesn't.  Her attention span runs about 2 minutes.

Listening

The only thing better than listening to the next town over's ambulance crew responding to one of their frequent flyers is listening to them get snookered by one of ours.

Kaboom

One of the members on the CERT team is involved in construction, specifically demolition.  That makes them one of my experts that I go to for equipment issues and questions.

Sometimes having kids is like having minions.

Finger Puppets

Eldest Child has been making finger puppets.  He's got a whole side business at school where he is selling them.  The other day he set out to make me one for each organization I volunteer with.

New Words, New Meanings

Every so often, one of the boys mis-hears or mis-pronounces something.  Sometimes we come up a definition for the new word.  The other day the new word was "Frodotype", and we defined it as:  when the first one is small.

What Brings You?

The patient is a little altered, but fairly with-it.  We roll the stretcher into the little ER cubicle and in the process of transferring them over to the bed.  The nursing staff starts their assessement with the beginning question that has become so familiar to me.

Nurse:  So, what brings you to the ER tonight?
Patient:  The ambulance because I couldn't get a ride.

Ba Da Dum!

Medical Conditions, Denied

The patient is wheelchair bound and in pain after a fall.  They don't seem very responsive so the questions all go to the home heathcare person (no idea what their qualifications are).

MOI Part 2

When we left off, my partner was treating a patient based on the Mechanism of Injury (MOI) rather than the actually injuries.

I got a quick release form from the other driver and returned to the rig to find that the patient was covered in gauze care of 2 over-zealous newbies eager to use their skills.  Poor patient looked like he'd been attacked by a troop of bandage-bearing boy scouts.
